Film Noir Research

Film noir is a a style or genre of cinematographic film marked by a mood of pessimism, fatalism, and menace. Film noir often use low-key lighting in a bold manner so that it has a noticeable and dramatic effect on the entire composition of a work. The cinematography emphasises the darkness created in film noir. Long, sharp shadows are used to fulfil this dark, bold effect. Film noir compliments light against dark, good against evil.
